The Fishy Lighthouse! 20
William had himself dressed and was walking down the stairs when the howls began. Downstairs Cooky dropped a pot and Kitty stood stiff at the first step, on her way up to call out for William. Down he walked with his head held high, turning his ears around to find the source of the howls. But inside it felt as if it came from everywhere.
“This way William” Kitty gestures him towards the dining room, Through the door he finds Lady Chambelle and Richard sipping their milky tea.
“Ah good morning Will, hope you slept well?” Richard asks with a fresh and vibrant happy voice.
-“Slept like a log to be honest despite my excitement.”
Lady Chambelle makes her cup and saucer clink “What you mean dog? Oh you mean the howls… That is nothing”
-“I’m sorry Lady Chambelle…”
“Never mind Will, never mind” and she takes a new sip of her tea.
His surprise and confusion is written all over his face as he tries to plant himself on a seat. Kitty is filling the cup with tea for William and moves across the table refilling Richards. Er eyes glare around the table going from one to another, feeling the tension build unexpectedly by Lady Chambelle “I will get breakfast, if you excuse me”.
“Ah, yes. Yes of course Kitty, please do” Richard stutters. The awkward silence broken by Kitty surprised him as his mind must have wondered at the word dog.
It stays quiet while Kitty and Cooky bring in breakfast. Solver bells raised revealing a beautiful pink salmon cut is tiny thin strips, Some nice haring shining its luscious silver. Toast golden brown roasted and fresh fruit.
“Bon apetite, Miss and Gents” Cooky bows over her head and lowers herself through the knees.
“Thank you very much Cooky, you done outstanding. It looks delicious” Lady Chambelle is her usual self again. A true lady, with her proper speech and attitude as if nothing happened before.
There are more than two sides to Lady Chambelle and even Richard is noticing some changes in his wife. His eyes are widely peeled as she made that hundred and eighty degree turn. While William is trying to take a bite from a soft slippery |haring a honk of the horn is heard.
The car still some distance away is honking like a maniac and coming ever so closer, with a high speed. Kitty rushes through the window and stares towards the bridge. A car with its huge wheel at the back. “It is McSniff, he is here already!”
“What wait a minute, what’s the rush, we were only going to visit an orphanage today.” Will mumbles with a mouth full of crumbs and fish.
Kitty rushes over to the front door and opens it, awaiting McSniff’s arrival, still honking like crazy and in the middle of the noise is a voice shouting but is not clearly heard. Everyone steps outsides and watches McSniff come to a full stop in front of the house. “Terrible news, Will, we need your help, what say you bud.”
“What do you mean, what about breakfast and the orphanage? “Will is looking around hoping somebody would help him out and tell him what is going on. But everyone is just shocked as he is and waiting for the reason of his hasty appearance and even more dramatic expression.
“I am sorry there is no time for that William, the fish has stopped coming. We need to go now.”
