The Fishy Lighthouse! Part 10
On a Paris square the carriage is surrounded by squealing rats and people noises. Wheels cobble around across the stones and gravels as the smell of fresh baked bread from a nearby bakery is over powering the small of bad fish. The city is lively and the coach is on its final straight to the palace. All the cats seem to be smiling and happy. They are doing their thing like normal people would have done. Will is impressed by all that he is seeing watching a steam locomotive leaves a station with a single rail car behind it.
“This world is evolving slowly with the stories I told the king and some inventors” Richards points out to the amazed William.
In the palace the last hand is put on the long table. Lots of maids have put a lot of sweat into decorating everything for this upcoming dinner. The King is overlooking it all from a balcony overseeing the great dining hall. The red carpet has been rolled out, on either side a row of guards dressed in their shiniest armour. They are standing like statues with a sword and shield. Everything is polished and the copper cat’s paw spot on in the middle as if ripping the shield with its nails.
“Sir, is it true there is some issue with the fishing waters and delivery?” McSniff sits on a single knee behind King Lion de Paris, his nose pointed down to the ground.
-“Oh for crying out loud Gregory, stand up you know you do not need to bow for me when there is nobody around. SIgh, But you are right my friend. There is a problem with the fish. It looks like we are not getting any new and you know what that means, don’t you.”
McSniff stands on his feet and walks up to stand next to the king watching the cats below finish up. An orchestra has seated down and are preparing their strange looking instruments. Some felines are stretching their limbs in long skirts that open wide as they turn around on a single paw. Their jumps are high like ballerina’s, with graceful smile landing in hunting stance. The king Is not taking half measures with welcoming the Last Hero who saved Paris.
“Sir does that mean we need to go outside the walls again?”
-“Gregory you know damn well what that means. It is not easy for me to make that decision. Last time you helped s out but you know very well it took the lives of dozens of our own to those vicious dogs. I am hoping you and this hero will team up and get it done without the spilling of lives.” The king is looking troubled and annoyed. His eyes squinting and his paws slammed together.
“Is this why you invited the Hero William,, sir? Is this welcome to get his loyalty”
A paw slaps across the face of McSniff. “I do not doubt your loyalty Gregory McSniff and I am sure if I asked you, you would tell me he will be just as loyal. so no. This is purely for what he has done for us before defeating that Monarch. Sorry Gregory, these are and have been intense times for us and they are only just getting started.”
A cat comes running through the large doors and screams up to his king, “THEY ARE HERE, HE IS HERE. IT IS THE HERO, THEY HAVE ARRIVED.”
There we have it. Another part in this story smoking hot of the press. I am having fun writing this story. Every second something new comes to mind to add and have it grow as you read along. Leave a thought, make a comment. And who knows maybe see you again next week for another instalment of McSniff.
