Sensual Sunday: Pinocchio! String 2
Giminy shakes his head in disbelief, after what he has happened in front of his eyes. His legs carry him back away from the beautiful lady and this marionette that spoke. The back hits a small chisel and has it drop to the floor.
The sound has the blue fairy look his way and wave her wand. Scared, Giminy backs up even more.
“No need to be afraid little cricket. I am not here to harm you. How about you become his mentor and show him the ropes. That love is build on slippery slopes.”
A wave of her wand lifts him up in the air and a quick spin around has his rags turn back to new. His tail coat fitting perfectly, a tall hat without a hole and shiny cane to complete his ensemble.
“What is it that you ask of me. He is not a real boy, he is a marionette. How can he learn to love. He probably has sawdust for a brain to. Just look at him”
Pinocchio is trying to stand on his own two feet. Still a bit wobbly he finds his balance. “I will be a real boy some day, just you see. ” Make his head turn all the way around and see his elbows bend and stretch again. Strings entangle his small wooden body and not before long he is in a knot and drops down again, and leaves a big mess in its wake. Chisels and hammers drop to the floor and the wood of the floor above begins to squeak. Gepetto must have woken up from al the noise from the ground floor.
“Be a good boy Pinocchio and learn to love, go to school. And listen to Giminy and before you know it you will become a real boy”
-“Who is down there?” A voice calls out from the dim lit up staircase. Shadows dance across the wall from the flicker of the tiny flame Gepetto is holding. And just as he reached the last step the fairy turned into the blue firefly and flew away the same way she came.
Gepetto walks down past the work bench and checks every nook and granny of his little shop. Only to notice his marionette all tangled up on the bench. He puts down the candle next to Pinocchio and lights up the other candle. With a scratch on the bac of his head he looks down. “What happened here, How did you get grown and tangled up?”
“Hello… I…”
Gepetto jumps in the air and falls over. HIs face shocked as he heard the marionette talk and saw it move. He recovers fairly quickly and untangles the wooden limbs to see it stand on its own. With a stutter of disbelief he pushes against Pinocchio’s body. “You… You are alive…”
-“I am Pinocchio and want to be a real boy, but I do not know how.” He lets his head hang down and turns his little knobby fingers in front of him.
A sparkle flickers in Gepetto’s eyes and his lips curl into a smile. “My boy Pinocchio, you are alive… You see this Martha, we have a son.” His arm wrap the little fellow in his arms and lifts him up into the air. “No need to worry Pinocchio, to me you are a real boy.”
Pinocchio is not to sure about that as something tells him he is lacking something. After all the lady said she was looking to see if he was worth a heart. Giminy looks at all this unfold on the back corner of the bench. He holds up his thumb to show PInocchio all will be okay.
That night Gepetto did not sleep and danced and talked with his son. A wooden Marionette he made with such great care to fulfil the wish of his wife. It would be another week before Pinocchio was on his way for his first day at school.
To be continued…
Join me next week to see how his first day at school is going to be. And I am sure you will be surprised on how I changed the story.
