Monday Moaning: Censored World,
Not so crazy as it sounds and we all are guilty of the fact we censor ourselves and the world. Pretty simple since we decide what to share and what not, it is a given choice and we use it. This is but one way of how we perceive and or apply it.
Share your opinion, be frank and let us learn from each other.
The true meaning lies in how we use it and what we censor. We even uphold certain believes that it is the right thing to do. Being it better for the world around us. Yet how much of the truth is written in that argument.
Would I share my opinion here and now, I would argue that censoring might as well be withholding information.
Pretty cruel even for me. But there are so many ways to censor the world.
As mentioned, withholding information is one thing. It is not yet a lie but close to. Even I can argue that keeping things out of the mentioned within a conversation is about protecting or not wanting to hurt the other. Aren’t we a nice bunch, thinking of someone else. But why thought. Do we think so little of them? Are they weak in our opinion?
On what do we assess what we are willing to share. Are they friends, family or are they a co-worker. Maybe they are a stranger. WE decide they do not need to know a certain part of information. O we tone it down so it doesn’t blow them away while being honest.
Clearly being considerate is a good trait in any human being. But would it not also be respectful to simply be honest and straightforward.
This might be where people clash in their thought. Are we not all taught to always be honest and truthful. And at the same time be respectful and kind. Be sure to consider the other person’s feelings. Though are they as weak as they are made out to be.
It is not very respectful to look down on someone but we pe their head and censor ourselves so we won’t hurt them. Protect them with a slight distorted truth.
Am I, by any chance, cutting corners and be blunt. Maybe. But why should I keep things to myself. What is wrong with the idea to spill all and share in order to learn from you. Hearing your view in exchange to which I can alter my opinions if needed be. And I am pretty sure you want me to be honest with you.
In short, Censorship is used to lie or alter a truth slightly to make it lies hurtful. Knowing full well lying is being disrespectful.
Have we made it so hard on ourselves that we can’t even be sure anymore what is right or wrong. Finding that middle way is becoming harder and harder this way. But we wiggle and squirm around corners and obstacles to try.
The other censorship is more known. Sticking age restrictions on everything, taking away books ad magazines that have become forbidden. For our protection and safety.
Funny how it is decided that we need protection. Even more funny we do it to as mentioned above. We are being looked down upon by a group of people who think they know better. Who will bend a rule so it fits a need. The need to protect someone.
The bigger question and my thought for the day. Do we need protection from the truth?
Truth being another story and altered throughout the years of that I am sure.
Looking around I see so many contradictions it becomes hard to decide what is right or wrong.
We teach children facts and truths, but withhold some information as we deem them not fit for the children. Fair enough the older they get the more we teach them to think for themselves and find out some facts that were not told when they were little. At the same time they hit walls as people still believe they should not know everything. And no matter how old we are we are still get deceived.
Maybe we want to be, of that I am not entirely sure. We were not taught how to deal with that.
That was the task of parents. To teach us morals and other social skills.
Yep we were told to always be honest and the older we got the more we saw deceit and some kind of censorship. And to be considerate and always protect others. Keep them from harm. And just like a play we play our role and do as we seen and are taught.
In some way we have all decided that certain information is suited for a particular age group. And fair enough we do not need to tell toddlers how people were killed in WWII. But what about when we are adults. Are we not capable of knowing right from wrong we still need protection in the form of censorship or even a hidden truth.
This is a very global view of things and even if you read all this. You know it is all I wanted to say for today. Should I have said things differently? Maybe. But I will only have known that if I had more information or other opinions. And instead of choosing your words why not be honest. I am a big boy If I can’t handle the truth I won’t be able to face the world.
Everything I told here is but a small part of the moments we choose our words or what we want to say. I am sure we do not want to be looked down upon when we want to be able to look people in the eyes. And be told what is safe and what is not. I may not be right but I am right to share it with you and maybe even find what is right someday if one is willing to listen and share their thoughts.
