Eyes Wide Open!
Time sure does fly.
Relentless seconds
Echo in one’s head.
Watches, like clock towers
resonate.
Hidden from below
in a drawer.
Piercing drums
hitting a tired mind.
Fighting hours,
monster’s shadows
filling the night with
desires, for the dark of days.
Claws scratch persuasive
sharpness rubs
me to cry into my hand.
Silence of the stars,
anxiety to eat the moon.
Create an insanity
to shoot the early bird
daunting to wake you
from finding sleep
before dawn.
Dreams avoid you
nightmares hunt
and scare reality
into an endless sleep
with eyes wide open.

This piece came together after a prompt from the ReverieJournal. It is also my second visit to insomnia.
The first was called ‘Insomnia State‘. For more poetry visit the Crow’s Blood Spills.
