Heart Ship! The quest for forbidden love.
I am getting ready from today forth I be on land but first I need to be getting through the night and the upcoming storm. Waves are foaming and with just a single sail me and my trusty yellow rose sheer across multiple waves. Rocking up and down nose diving and splashing the salty water up on to deck. The wood underneath me getting slippery. Lips dry and cracking from the sea salt. The night is dark not a star or moon is visible. Just dark black clouds on occasion lit by a streak of lightning.
The flashes lighting up the foaming waves that come crashing down left and right. Keeping the ship going straight in to the waves ask for all my strength. Like being on a swing you one moment look at the sinister skies. The next you look down in to the ominous abyss of a large wave. Its dark waters ready to swallow you up. Soaked and cold to the bone it is a fight with mother nature and her hungry waters.
I knew the night would be long. I knew it was not going to be easy. But I set on a journey to fulfilment or so I hope. My mind is waling in the darkness. Unable to see ahead and where my ship is going. No way of direction as there is no land mark or star in sight. Lost I struggle the raging seas hoping that a light might give an idea of land. Praying with the wheel held tight in my hand to make t through the demon night. Wishing for a signal to cast of some strength and warmth I am going in the right direction that I am finding my way blinded by water and salt.
The spectacle of the Gods sill going strong as the clouds spread the lightning across as if wired. Clouds lighting up like balls of fire one after another. Grey white black and every shade in between. May the Gods have mercy on my ship. Another waves splashes on to my deck. And sweeps me of my feet. Its strength miscalculated I get up as fast as I can. Hurt I take the wheel and braze myself for another pounding. A second wave coming down on me. This time I am holding on and steer with al my might back to go in to the waves.
Foaming at the lips the waves keep swallowing till I get straight once again. Watching a bolt of light go straight down. Another ship? Could it be land? It is land a ray of light shines across the skies. In a constant motion. A light house, land, I found it. I start counting the seconds at the same time as I keep my ship from getting taken to Davy Jones’ Locker. After several tries I found the count in seconds and the rays of light. It is an island across from where I was going. Another day of sailing, two in weather like this and hoping to find my way. But am I close enough to have a smile?
