It is the third Friday of the month and I think it is time to share with you some music that I listened to. These artists are mostly Dutch but none the less worth hearing. Having lost my heart to the golden oldies one might notice the music these days have a reverence to those times. Whether it is pop form the 80’s to early rock from the 50’s and 60’s. I tip my hat to those who still are writing music as I think t is meant to be. Evolving and creating. Where the young take up on old classic tunes and make it their own with a new century twist. Hope you will enjoy the following few I put together for some music time.
The Indien. If you think it is spelled wrong, It could well be but that is not of any issue. This small band took me on a trip down memory lane. Music that has that trippy feel to it and has that mellow tone from long ago. To put them in a category is hard but I think they would be in a box with The Doors for one.
Orange Skyline. Who would have thought these guys could not play a single instrument 5 years ago and wanted to form a band. With the help of a lot of youtube hours they turned into quit the Indie rock band. They are still trying to make it big and et their sound is one that has you tapping your feet. I enjoy the simplicity of each instrument and how it all mixes into great sound.
The handsome poets. A band had their début in 2010 but had an even better single in 2012. the song “Sky on fire” is included together with on of their newest singles “Stardust” that will be on their second album coming this year in March. I for one would think their poppy sound is in the same corner as Maroon and maybe also some Coldplay. It is that catchy kind of music that sweeps you away and might have you jump up and down in the middle of the street.
The Common Linnets. A duo that was created for the Eurosong festival and has gotten more popularity after becoming second. Ilse de Lange and Waylon were the wo starters but after a quarrel Waylon stepped down and has his place has been taken now by JB Meijers though other members like Jake Etheridge, Matthew Crosby and Rob Crosby make up for writers and singers as well on their tours. The songs are country or blue grass maybe a hint of pop can be found to and though they are not my personal style it has its occasional great song. First up is “Give me a reason” the second song from them is the one who got second place. A song called “Calm after the storm”
Teus Nobel. A young men who pours his heart into the jazz. Letting his trumpet do the crying when honouring earlier brass masters like Miles Davis, Woody Brown with writing a composition for them. Guys like these are sometimes hard to come by but give a new impulse to some great music. He is las in the list with a long and great tune. Last because I know not every one likes jazz but I urge you to give it a try, with a glass in your hand, eyes closed and just the music playing. “Mr shiny pants” 12 minutes of tribute to another great jazz artist.
