Monday Moaning: Polluting Minds!
The title this weeks is pretty simple and has pretty much to do with everything we see and do in life. All that we see and hear is in some way polluting our minds. On the other hand it is also true that there are minds at play that pollute on regular bases to confuse us. Which in this case is pretty easy because no matter how smart we are, we loved to get tricked.
It is pretty strange when you think about that we, the high almighty human race are so easily tricked and manipulated. Now there is some study as to why that is but that will take weeks to explain. In short it is common we give in to group pressure, colours and certain text. For some reason it stops us from making solid choices.
Simplest example would be the fact that a selection of cartoon figures on a cookie roll will decide what the child likes most even if the cookies are the same. Our levels drop soon as we large red or yellow stickers with the 30% off. Or the 2 for 1.
This is simple but it does go beyond that. Because at the same time we have that feeling that a big name would not trick us. We somehow uphold the belief that they never would do such a thing to keep their costumers, but nothing of that is true.
So as with Volkswagen, we wanted to believe it is true, now that we know it doesn’t we get angry and are thankful that a group of people warned us. Bu how much of that is true? We only know the arguments and though Volkswagen has confirmed in some way, never will we ever get to know the truth.
Here is the thing. And do not get me wrong but no matter what we choose we are polluting ourselves with ideas that have no solid ground. And again choose to belief one of them is right and get angry when the opposite comes to light.
This might be a case where we follow on someone else’s thoughts and opinions and not taking the time to make our own.
What I am getting at and as with the Volkswagen it does have that environment playing in it. We want to have cleaner air for our offspring, pollution free waters to swim in and being able to life a long and prosperous life on earth since this spaceship of ours is dying hank to what we have done.
Following a story here in our country a judge has ruled that we needed to close 5 more power plants that run on coal. They are polluters we have no argument there. Still if one uses those arguments every factory, power plant should be closed. Since each and every one pollutes. Though the most used argument is the air quality.
Air quality as if each and every one of us is living inside a bottle or under a dome where pollution from other country can not penetrate. If only based on this we have been tricked or are not smart enough to recognize the silliness.
Second to that in the short period after, if there is a production needed fro windmills and solar panels. As their production goes up it only means they will take over pollution.
All long term ideas, lets face it.
The same goes with our ideas on health though not want to go there at this point.
Last is our view on cars. Yes there our pink glasses may have shattered as well.
As it turns out that the battery for those electric cars have to be manufactured and pollute just as much or almost as much as a diesel powered car for the up coming 5 years. So even if everybody would by an electric car today they will HAVE put enough pollution in the air for 5 years. That is one car. Not to mention the electricity needed that could still be produced by a power plant using coal.
I know that right here right now during this rant I am shouting stuff that can also pollute your mind. But it is up to you to do something with that.
We do not have to believe that when a washing powder with the GOLD in its name is better. And even pay extra for it.
How come companies hide behind slogans that pretty much are meaningless. Because we love to believe them.
Now on with another story.
Here we have gotten notice that they wanted to exchange our old electricity meter. It is after al to tell how much electricity the household has used in a year. Now in order to have people comply they obviously used carefully chosen words. And we should face it we all fell for it. The new one is digital so one thing they won’t share is the amount of electricity it will se itself while maintaining operational and able to sent a wireless signal to an optional wireless thermostat. Neither will they mention if you as user will pay that bill. Even though it may not b much, still.
Argument one. Save the planet. Know how much you use and find out where to reduce the amount used. Yes every two months you get a PAPER print out to show you how much you used per hour. Now there once was a reason we started using email, since we stopped cutting down trees for paper. Not to mention at some point if somebody still received a paper bill a certain amount of money had to be paid. On average that was 2,50 per bill.
On the other hand if I by any change open up the closet and check the meter every day, I myself can do so with out their help. It s just how much one is dedicated to make a change.
Not to mention that the new meter is made from a hard plastic. How environmentally responsible is that. They had to be produced before hand.
Then we do come up with the second issue. The replacement takes away a machine that has and can work for decades. A solid piece of equipment if I say so myself. We this new machine had a beautiful argument.
Every day it will contact central to see if there are any updates and to check if it is working properly, with a self diagnostic system.
Hold it. Why does a machine need to have self diagnostics. Doesn’t that imply it could break down at any given time?
And if your think we are done you are wrong. Because when it comes to fraud we all have heard of people steeling electricity from neighbours. Now it used to be on man coming by every year to take note of the meter. This was also a check to see if people committed fraud. All one had to do was open the door. The new argument is that one doesn’t have to do anything any more. As with a simple drive by or press of a button they can collect the numbers. So even though we do not have to open the door any more or even go online to enter the numbers.
No matter how one looks at the arguments, none of which hold any grounds. And yet we belief them and feel even obligated to go along with it. Not even giving it much thought. The first argument was after all safe the planet. There was one or two arguments more but they have little to no impact. Though one was talking about saving money. Which could be considered one that does entice you to follow heir words.
It begs to question whether or not we have to buy everything that has been told. Are companies not always thinking of making money before anything else. So if we want to save the planet. Stand up yourself and take action yourself. No need to have some company tell you how to live your life or how to save.
Pollution of the mind it is all around us.

There is pollution in the world and true enough we have to do something about it. But it is on to us for always seeking money never stand still at what the consequence might be. And even today we want to earn money on saving the planet. It is not just one power plant, it isn’t just a car or even the food industry. If we want it to change we need to change. It is up to us to stop following the industry and make them follow us. Make up your own mind.
