Timmy’s Choice
Standing in front of huge wooden doors that are being pushed open by two big men. The large copper handles are impressive for a 6 year old like me, who got the feeling of walking into a castle. I was told the white floor was made of stone, they called marble. A fountain taller than me stood against the wall with a shiny metal tap on top. I looked into the big room and found me walking behind those large men pushed ahead by Misses Landry.
I had been sleeping over at her place for some time now and had lots of fun playing games and eating ice cream. She was really nice to me and told all I had to do was; to be honest. Rows of wooden benches but there were no bibles here and no glass stained windows either. And church would have a large cross and not a statue of a woman playing pin the donkey.
My amazement was complete when in front of me a wooden gate was opened and I stared up a large wall made of wood. Down on a funny chair with a tiny typewriter set a lady looking very stern. From the top an old man was looking down on me dressed like a penguin. All black with a white bib hanging in front of his chest. Still pristine white so he had not eaten yet. I can’t help but feel a little hungry and snicker at the bib.
“Have a seat there Little Sir. You must be little Timmy La Grande, are you not? My name is Sir Brimmel” the old man smiles and waves to a chair in the middle for two large desks.
-“Go on Timmy you can sit down and be polite okay” Misses Landry’s hand squeeze me gently making me look up and see her force a smile on her face.
“I am not little mister, I am already six years old” Holding out a full hand and thumb of the other.
-“Are you now, now that would make you a big boy alright.” He rubs his bib and laughs. Even the stern lady smiled a little. “Did Misses Landry tell you why you are here?”
-“yeah, she told me to be honest when asked a question.” I sit myself even straighter up wiggling on the chair. My shoes shiny and polished swung back and forth as my toes cannot yet touch the ground.
“That is very good of you.” His arms are crossed and he leans forward looking over the ledge. “What I am about to ask is very important and it is true I want a honest answer. Can you do that?”
-“I can mister, I learned a lot at school so you can ask me anything I even know what 25 divided by 5 is. It is also five.” Proud of myself I smile back at the old man who is laughing loud and pinking away something from his eyes.
“I do not doubt you are a smart boy Timmy. But what I would like to know is, with whom you want to live?” His face goes from smiling to looking more serious, Misses Landry’s hands squeezes my upper arms. “Would you like to live with Grandma Ellis or with aunt Gledys?”
Tears are welling up in my eyes as reality hit me. “Mummy…. And daddy… I want to live with Mummy” I snicker away some tears “Mummy and daddy. Sorry Misses Landry, It was loads of fun but I want mummy and daddy.”
From underneath her glasses a tear rolls down her cheek, past the make shift smile. “I know Timmy and I am sorry”

It is a shame I have to stop here due to the word count; it could have used a little more backdrop. I already exceeded the suggested word limit with at least 75 words, again. And not sure if I could have kept the funny and innocent side of Timmy as I did not want to much focus on the horrible choice. Tried to keep it light.
I had me some fun coming up with an impossible choice to make. The result is that of an innocent child having to choose between parents. I hope you liked this little story. This was brought to you through a prompt at Tipsy Lit.
Best Wishes
