Kingdom of Crestoria! 29
Duncan was quick on his feet but did not leave the large hall before taking a bow. Somewhere he felt he had to apologize for the princess’ outburst. “Sorry for the trouble.’
Nobody heard him say anything or see him walk out the door. The smaller chicks were just eating their tummy full of the spilled food as their parent had her eyes closed and kept lowering her head with apologies towards the waiter, the duck and even throw in the name of the princess.
He looked outside the door but could not find the princess anywhere. With a hand scratching his chin he looked left and right but had no clue what way to go. ‘What was that ducks name again. Cairo, Caitou… Oh right’
“Cartoo.”
It was just the sound of a flipper that hit the floor with a loud flop. “You called Sir?”
Duncan was shocked and lifted his right leg up and covered his ace with his arms and hands. Startled and with a slight tremble he put down his foot and looked down at Cartoo. “Whaaah, That was fast. Yes…” He straighten himself up a little and swallowed his shock away before continuing. “Yes, Could you please show me to the room of the Lady I was with?”
He did not wanted to mention her name or use her titles so he was careful with the choice of his words and not much later heard his answer.
“Very well sir, this way please.”
As he followed Cartoo back in to the door and down the stairs his mind diverted his thoughts to the princess once more and find a reason why she would be like she was.
‘A warrior princess always getting her way with Daddy the king according to stories and almost ignored by the queen, since she doesn’t act like her. Her only friend might just have been Grub. And than there is that irrefutable pride.’ It all made him smile.
“We are here sir.”
Duncan shook his head unaware of how he got where he was he looked at a simple wooden door with a bronze crown nailed on it. “Thank you Cartoo. Has food being ordered to come here?”
‘No sir but will do.” Cartoo made a bow and walked away towards some stairs.
[Knock, Knock.] “Princess, miss. It is Duncan, I am coming in…” With slow precision he turned the knob and pushed open the door inch by inch. Not hearing an answer made him weary of what was to come. Through the gap he could see the princess sitting in a corner leaning on her hand. Eyes motionless looking out the window.
There was a lot of pressure coming from her seemingly calm posture.
“I had asked Cartoo to bring us some food.”
-“I am not hungry.” Her lips moved but everything else remained without movement. Her undertone was that of a spoiled and annoyed little child sneering back at her parents.
Her cheeks took on some colour and her eyes diverted to her stomach.
‘rumble, rumble, roarrrrr’
