Ben-To: Publishing a Novel 11
“What a disgrace you are.” Shiraume shouts.
“Give me a break will you, I didn’t sign up for this” Satou argues with the two girls sitting on the sofa as the host of this event continues her speech all the while all women still screaming and the opponents take on poses to show of their muscle.
“He does look smaller than when you read about him, but be not mistaken he won’t go down easy. Lets show them what they will be fighting for.” With a firm sweep of her arms he point upwards.
On the edge of the ring a table is lowered from the ceiling. On it stands a bento shining brightly from the eggs perfectly rolled up and like gold bricks surround the red dotted rice. On top a crispy looking piece of chicken. In the mean time Satou had a push in his back to tell hi he needed to go into the ring.
As he walks up women and men alike left and right scream beside the catwalk. They all cheer him on to win the bento and show them who is boss. It has been some time now, that Oshiroi mentioned she wanted to have one of her novels published. Until now she had only been in the writers club beside the ‘half priced bento club’. Though never thought it would go this fast. ‘This is a book release party?’
Satou reaches the ring and crawls through the ropes into the arena where very shortly a brawl will take place. The price a bento, like the man other fights he had. ‘But looking like this’. A little of his shame starts to come back to him when the men circle around him and blow down steam from their noses, ready to rumble and make mincemeat of that he was sure
“Oshiroi, how did you come with the legend of the Treasured Bento. A box filled with gold bricks diamonds and rubies. As it made the story very interesting… oooh sorry we do not have time to answer as we have started the countdown for the fight. Here we go… 10… 9”
Satou looks around and waits patiently for the starting bell. As his eyes take a short glare at the bento he again sees the old man. The ghost that had him loose a few battles. With the few teeth in his mouth he was smiling raising his cane. He looked excited. On his chest hung a batch this time. A shield with a lions head.
“3… 2… 1… START” with the screams roaring so did the few men in the ring who all jumped onto Satou throwing in the first punch all at the same time.
In a reflex and with the wish to see what the old man had pinned on his chest he ducked and sneaked in between a pair of legs. The fists that hit each other blew a wind across the heads of the spectators. The shock wave reached even Shiraume and Oshiroi.
Oshiroi’s eyes had grown in size as she was measuring the muscles and bodies of the men having a brawl. Her fantasy of men holding touching everywhere during a fight. Sweating and slipping from the tight grasps. Her heart was beating in so much excitement he could not restrain herself any more and jumped up. “GO SAITOU!”
