Music Friday: Dance Event
It is that time of year again. Amsterdam Dance Event is happening all over Amsterdam in multiple clubs new trends and old dance music everywhere. Artists showcasing their way of making music, promoters looking for new talents and famous DJ’s gathering for a big event just to make us dance. The youngest talented 13 year old female DJ Kendis will kick off the Sunday night in No129.
The Anthem this year was created by a female duo Dj Miss Smile and No Sugar. It is called ‘Stand 2Gether’ Just click HERE to listen to a preview of the song at Soundcloud.
I picked a couple of artists that will play on this event and made an impression on me. With something new or old and unusual. It is great to see how dance is evolving and people always try to find new ways to express their persona. I am not the biggest fan of people who copy and paste but they to have a place within the scene. It is most enjoyable to see new combinations.
So let me introduce you MAASK.A beatboxer and vocalist using his looper to create his songs. It is fun to just listen to him doing his thing. I can’t help but feel happy when listening as you hear his voice create these crazy sounds and his fingers tap the buttons to mix them all up. It might be unusual but give him a try. He is up second in the list after the Intro.
Next up is Vavox who I think had a great song with ‘White Cowboys’. With their peculiar masks and bowler hat they are hard to miss. This year the Belgium Duo joined forces with Andreas Scholl. Scholl is a classical singer with a very large vocal range who is specialized in the Baroque music. The track created is to my opinion phenomenal. Two so very different kinds of music becoming an unusual mix with a live performance no less is a thumbs up.
Before I reach the last clip I have set up for you I have an oldie if one can call it that. Martin Garrix‘s Animal has been one of the hottest dance hits that gave this youngster his fame. Now at the age of 19 he has been traveling across the globe for some time now. Turning the tables and standing next to the greatest. He made this at the age of 16. He is still young and has a long way to go but he is on his way to the top.
There is a bonus here coming from Hardwell ft Amba Shepard with asong that just fits what we should be doing. ‘United we are’.
I am certainly not done yet as I do have one more. And it is not one you would quickly expect of me it might be in some cases the ugly duckling or misunderstood kind of music. Though I would like you to listen to Collin Benders aka Kyteman and hear his harmonic creations as well as his explanation of how his passion came to be. The size and unlimited use of smaller module synthesizers one can build walls full to create your own instrument. One can only imagine how much fun this could be to turn dials and have everything under your control. If you get bored with the interview just watch the other clip.
It is bringing back so much memories like a theme from Miami Vice, a song by Vangelis. And even Kraftwork comes to mind.
In a separate video is Sjam Sjamsoedin with a smaller module setup but bringing forth some crazy good music. It is a jam so no prep work has been done in advance. Just follow the link HERE
I had me some great fun selected some of the music I have been listening to. It may not all what you like but something new should be tried. I leave you with the music.
