Music Friday: Paul Anka!
It has been a while since I visited an artist from the past that I had a pleasure of listening to when growing up. This might be a little different from the soul and rock we heard before as Doo-Wop just has a slightly different ring to it.
But why pick a Paul Anka? Well he was born Canadian and his music just knew how to sway a teenagers heart I guess. Though style wise there was so many to pick, I had to make a choice. And it is easy to forget this style of music as it comes from a time of turmoil and great changes.
But as you are used of me or should say used of me, I used his own lyrics to create some new. A story, a poem if you will. Hope you enjoy the read and listen of songs at the end I picked. With a fun surprise at the end.
I’d like to hear
I’ll give you my love
Each night and day
Each night I ask the stars up above,
Why must I be a teenager in love.
One day I feel so happy,
Next day I feel so sad.
I guess I’ll learn to take,
The good with the bad.
No matter what you should say to me..
No matter what you do..
It would mean nothing at all to me
Because I’m so in love with you
Everything’s wrong heaven above
Set me free from this crazy love
I am watching you,
Oh no it cannot be.
While I’m watching you,
I’m wishing, hoping it’s for me.
Thrills I get when you hold me close
Oh my darling, you’re the most
I love you
But do you love me
I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I’ll hope and I’ll pray that maybe someday
You’ll be back in my arms once again
The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you’ve seen
And all the others in between
Hold me till the mornin’ comes
Until I see you smile
Take all the sadness from your eyes
Hold me till the mornin’ sun
Let me stay we’ve just begun
To my regret dear,
we’ve never met dear
But I love you just the same
Although we’ve never danced
I loved you with just one glance
And I never, no I never knew your name
Won’t you kiss me once, baby
Just a kiss goodnight, maybe
Goodnight, my love (wah-ooh)
Pleasant dreams and sleep tight, my love
May tomorrow be sunny and bright
And bring you closer to me
