Sunken Heart
Do you hear me
calling
Following
vanishing footsteps
in wet sand
How long did I wander
at the foaming mouth
of retreating sea
With a whisper
caught in the breeze
Do you hear me
calling
screaming
across echoes
of roaring waves
How long did I wander
bathed in salt
from spraying wind.
Blinded vision
on edge of horizon.
Do you hear me
calling
wishing
on sands of time
you’d come back to me
Silently I wonder
with aimless stare
across the water
until the day
tears of memory
wash me away.
And reunite me
with my sunken heart.
