Detective McDougal! Part Venti.
“I…, I know of the laws and rules Lady Spavento.” Don Granducino’s voice is trembling knowing full well he will get killed if he was caught with a lie. And his mind is going over the fact what might happen if the truth does not suit her needs. It creates this tremendous pressure on him, that even got him to stutter again, like when he was a teenager. “Of course Lady Spavento I mean not to offend you, but I may have thought that you wanted to do things differently. I had the idea to merge our familia as one and let you sit on the throne. After having lost some places I know that with the cooperation of some dons I could be the second biggest again.”
Don Granducino stands up ad walks over to the fire place throwing in a piece of paper. “there is no need to use this as I am sure you could see through a lie.” His strides one of stature this time, when he reaches back behind his son. His solid large hand leaning on the shoulders of the young man. “Let’s cut the bull shit Lady Spavento, I know full well you wanted the power and pretty sure you still want it. So marry this man, my son and rule with the iron fist and change the syndicate as you please.”
-“You are pretty full of yourself, aren’t you Granducino? To think you can walk in here and accuse me of this treachery against my father. Think this is why you want me to marry your son, to be the biggest again, almost biggest. What did you promise the Dons. A seat at my table? A piece at your table after you killed me and your son becomes the head?”
“No of course not Lady Spavento. I would never do that as your familia has proven to be running things smoothly. Rules and laws were made so that everything would….” His easy going smile turned flat again as he sees Lady Spavento get out of he chair. His hands dig into the jacket of his son as he repeats his words “Rules and laws were made…”
-“I got you the first time. Maledizione! Get out! Start moving….”Her eyes are fierce, squinted so much, they pull down her eyebrows and wrinkle her forehead. Her finger pointing at the door.
“Signora, please think it over. It is a reasonable…”
-“Did I not tell you to get out. Leave me…”.
Lady Spavento stampedes out the room with heavy steps as if to try to punch the marble floors with her heels. Her hair floats in the air from the speed with which she moves. Leaving Don Granducino and his son behind with hanging heads. She know he was right, after all this is what she wanted, but she can’t let him think he was right. Let him win this. It has to be on her terms she will decide what is best for the syndicate. Not some low life don, who wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her familia and the syndicate they created.
No she to will reign with iron fist and whip those who need a whipping. It will go as she wants it to go. And as soon as he thought that and reach her bedroom she slammed her hand into the door with full force. Backed by anger and sadness her sister is not there as she planned it in the first place.
