Music Friday: April Surprise!
Today I have a line-up of again very different styles. Each in my honest opinion worth to give a try. Some are unknown to you though they been singing for so long. As I love music coming across these made me smile. Enjoying their music whether old or new. So let me tell you what artist I have lined up today. The links will direct you to their Wiki pages or Home page.
James Bay is the first to make his appearance on this Music Friday. A singer, songwriter who steadily is gaining popularity. It is music that is easy to listen to. A simple drum and clean clear riffs for a melody. Letting his singing be on the foreground. It is called ‘Indie’ by many though I do not like that label. Just listen and be amazed by this young (age 24) man. The song is called, ‘Hold back the River’ it is a single from 2014 and is amazing. Might want or need to keep an eye out on this fellow as I am sure to see him rise some more. Link.
Brody Dalle has been around for some time now as a previous singer of the Punk rock band ‘The Distillers’. At the age of 33 she went solo and is still rocking on. Last year it was her first solo album and as a rocker I like to share that with you. I would have to say that punk rock has a different feel from earlier days. Softer and yet sound nostalgic. Her song I have lined up is called, ‘Don’t mess with me’. In this song the Australian singer/songwriter is pretty much saying she won’t back down. Give her a try. Link.
Megan Reilly completely blew me away. With the blues sound she completely captivates you and takes you on a journey. The electric guitars echoing and lifting her voice to another height. It seems so soft and angelic but surprisingly flies over the beautiful music. Let the guitars chime you a lullaby and have you relax on this great song. The title of the song I have lined up in the video is ‘Throw it out’. I am sure if one will give her a try they will not be disappointed. One last word from me is that the chimes so reminded me of ‘Wicked Games” from Chris Isaak. Link
Scarlett Mae is the fourth in line in this list. They are a band from The Netherlands bringing you a poppy jazz and soul. Music that just makes you smile and feel happy. In my case I can’t even keep my feet still as they tap away on the beat. ANd staying stuck for the rest of the day. If you feel down give this song called “Direction South’ a try and feel a bit lighter. The band is formed around singer/songwriter Marije but the entire band is a passionate and fun whole that is heard clearly in their music. Link.
Last in line we have Clean Bandit. They are a British electronic group. A little dance music to speed up the time and have you enjoy the weekend that is right in front of us. and come one, what is life without dancing. Music that makes us move and smile. Transcending over all our differences. Now I chose them as they add a little classical to the mix. And I mean classic as in Mozart. The kind of music that took months to write note for note. The song I have put in the list is fun to listen to and is called ‘Rather be’. And yes even a rocker like me likes to dance on times, though they have to be special. Link
I hope you will give these great artists and groups a try and enjoy their music. It was fun compiling this list for you and hope it got you moving as well with a big smile plastered on your face. For now press play and listen.
