An answer to a prompt at the Reverie.
Present History.
Undiscovered it lay hidden
truth of men
between layers of dirt
and the present
stories buried from view
unsightly certainty
discarded never to find
the corpses gospel
A ferocious predator
slain by axe
ribs encased the skull
cracked with might
Our history teachings
dispel old words
spoken in silence
we are our enemies
years tortured in time
piercing questions
answers emerge in victory
changing the present.

“we are our enemies” I really liked this line. It stood out to me. So simple, yet true.
I think in this day and age it shows once again. It is sad that we do not learn from our history.
Thank you for stopping by.
