Monday Moaning: WordPress Dropout
Today I will be sharing with you a silly quirk. And as the title suggest I am thinking of dropping out of WordPress for that same reason. My mind works in silly strange yet very straight forward way. A tad bit logical while mixing in some emotional elements.
Now at this point it is all still a consideration and looking for a new spot to land my thoughts. I am chaotic doing multiple things all at once but I cannot stand clutter on a PC screen. And this is not to take WordPress down this is just my personal opinion on the changes they made to make it better.
One thing we should know that making chances is not always to make things better and it is why I am starting do dislike pressing some of the buttons. And sure this isn’t about me it is about the blog we create for those who read our posts. Sharing thoughts and fantasies and god knows what else. With that we can make the blog look just the way we like seeing it. Putting our personal touch on it for you to look at.
Cool as it may be it is making a post that completely throws me off. Soon as I log in the first thing I get in my screen is an annoying list of links and buttons. before seeing the list of blogs I follow. I come on to read your blogs and to create one of my own at some point. Reading left to right first has me read some clutter. This is still a personal opinion. Though we can change the way our blog looks we cannot change our work space. If by any means there is one place we should feel comfortable it I our workspace.
Be it as it may on a tablet or phone you just get a menu button and reader with the blogs. It must be me who is old fashioned and using a full on PC screen to work comfortably. Instead of staring at a screen that is to small to see the overall picture. Just me being picky maybe. But I am one who likes to see have an overview of everything instead of one thing. I dislike scrolling and when on my way or at home I do not spend much time online, I rather have a cup of coffee with someone next to me. While being on my way my phone is hardly ever used to go online.
So quirk are my thing and they keep adding new features or better yet, keep adding old features but blow them up bigger. Now clicking on the little bell to see if someone liked or left a message it seriously uses up a quarter of my screen. Talking about in your face. It may look good on your phone. But it creeps me out. Maybe I need to go have my brains checked out. The same fix was made for the dashboard though on some occasions called WP admin. As much as I do understand their desire to add more buttons so one can choose faster on where to go, it is also very cluttering.
The old dashboard or classic dashboard as it is now called had everything we needed. It was all there in one view. But to get there means getting passed that page with the scrolling stat age and a list of links, menu options and additional fast choosing options to create a post. Did I tell you I hate scrolling. I think I did. But the new stat page is just that, while the old utilized my screen in showing everything with the blink of an eye. Less scrolling al important information right there in front of me.
But I cannot choose my workspace or create it as I please. And true they are doing their very best to make it more glam and shine and fit the new generations of tablets and phones. And I may not like the clutter it is creating I do know it works on a tablet and make it look sleek.
Maybe I am just one of those ancient relics, but I do not see logic in the fact I have to read a menu before reading the blogs. I do not see any logic in having a cluttered menu when you have a working dashboard. I like to utilize my screen and have everything within sight.
So as mentioned I got a quirk and I for one do not see the logic in they way things are going. Clutter is not fixing or making things better. Maybe over thinking simplicity and trying to make things faster and easy is not the way to go. Not sure where to go from here, but I am looking at other options. Simplicity is hard to fin these days, with everyone wanting button after button and app after app underneath their fingertips. Fast pacing life at the touch of a button.
Yeah I am a relic of ancient history, growing up enjoying a cup of coffee with someone to talk to other than on a phone or tablet. My time is up for being online. I might check back in when I feel like it. Have a great week.
PS WordPress, the look you are trying to achieve is clean I will give you that much, but try to keep consistent with words used in the menus and options and ways you want it to look, more buttons only clutter. We read left to right give us what is important first. The blogs we read. Then the menu or options. And have that classic stat button at the top. I hate scrolling. Maybe give an option at the login for classic or new look since you are still having both operational. Just a thought.
