He would have been 80 years old yesterday the man who may have changed what was revered to as white music. The man they did not want to show below the hips as he shook them and made the ladies faint. Elvis Presley may not have written much himself, it is thanks to him we got to know music from another order. It was called black music or devil’s music but despite the names respectful white people gave it, it was the youth who got an outlet and made it big. Rock and roll the upbeat sounds that was added to R&B and country made him famous and worshipped even today. I grew up enjoying his music.
The second Friday of the year and the first for a music post. Hope you enjoy what I tried to achieve. Writing poetry/story with he use of lyrics from songs he had written or co-written with some of his hits.

Elvis Presley
Always lived, very quiet life
I ain’t never did no wrong
Now I know that life without you
Has been too lonely too long
Please don’t ask me what’s on my mind
I’m a little mixed up, but I’m feelin’ fine
When I’m near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so it scares me to death!
Don’t be angry with me should I cry
When you’re gone, yet I’ll dream
A little dream as years go by
Now and then there’s a fool such as I
If you think that this is just a game
I’m playing
If you think that I don’t mean
ev’ry word I’m saying
Baby, if I made you mad
for something I might have said,
Please, let’s forget the past,
the future looks bright ahead,
Just wanna be, your Teddy Bear
Put a chain around my neck
and lead me anywhere
When at last my dreams come true
Darling this I know
Happiness will follow you
Everywhere you go
Sweetheart when you’re near
My heart is aflame
Your lips pressed on mine is heaven descending
And I could die because it is ending
When you looked into my eyes
I stood there like I was hyp-notised
You sent a feeling to my spine
A feeling warm and smooth and fine
Whenever I see those eyes of blue
Smiling up so shy
I’m in such a spin I take right off and fly
Others may pass your way
And let you think their love is true
But you know that they’ll never replace
The one that waits for you
got a heart full of dreams
And a lot of memories
And that’s enough for me
The End.
Just a single song as I could not really make a pick as there are so many that have their own appeal. Please enjoy One of his own written songs that still get you feet moving.
We were married in Vegas with an Elvis themed wedding. We love him, and now our seven year old does, too. She even has an Elvis mug and throw blanket that she uses daily. We are teaching her well, I think. 🙂
My mother’s favorite singer and she gave gift to me snd i gave it to my children. I could tell stories upon stories about my mother and her love for Elvis. Someday i hope ti ho back to Graceland – she wanted her ashes taken there.
