Detective McDougal Part 11
Alfonso’s eyes squint as he watches Susan get cosy with Jerry while he answers her question where they met. “We came together serving the army, then we both went for a job in the justice department.”
“So we went to the academy and spend some time together on the force before transferring. How did you get this job Alfie?”
The squint turns anger “Don’t ever call me that again. It is Alfonso.”
Giggles are muffled by the large broad shoulder of Jerry, even he was smiling and holding up his thumb. “I just got a call one day for a special task force job and accepted, after some training I was made squad leader of this bunch. You know I could use a good second here and I know what you are capable of. Just how did you get yourself shot is still beyond me.”
“Ha ha I know but that is another story my man and not to be talked about right now, I think we are getting company. Let us just say there was a mystery woman involved?”
A screaming voice filled the almost empty hall, “Alfonso, what happened and how the hell are these people? Why are they not in handcuffs and arrested?”
With swift and agile movements Alfonso snaps into a saluting pose, “Sir these are not into custody as they do not form a threat, let me introduce you to Jerry McDougal one of San Francisco’s Finest now a detective and bodyguard of Susan Fratelo, the one he is to protect.”
The eyes of this individual open wide in a small shock, “At ease and fine but I still did not hear what they were doing down in the tunnels and how they even got there in the first place.” Not once looking straight at the two who were locked in and brought up.
With Susan like a tired and bored schoolgirl hanging from Jerry’s arm he steps forward standing next to Alfonso. “We came through a tunnel dug from a near by nightclub. Anything else is of no matter. So if you would excuse us we need to be going. Alfonso you might want to keep your gear on as we were chased down here.”
With large steps he walks passed what seems to be the boss or something other of the facility who started showing drops of sweat rolling from his temple. Nervous he follows them go up the stairs. “Till next time Alfonso.” With his fingers pointing like a gun down to the unknown man, “I’ll be seeing you!”
“Is that a threat huh… You threatening me. Is… is he threatening me Alfonso?”
Alfonso just stands quiet with a smile painted across his face. His mind only thinking back of a time long gone of who was the better man and his many losses. Out walked a great man he looked up to and would follow everywhere.
Best Wishes and see you next week
Ps. I tip my hat to the mothers who write. It was a feat trying to write this with 3 toddlers running and screaming around.
