What is in a name. The choice of this fifth Friday of the month. A Friday where I will try and create a story/poem from lyrics, except on the fifth Friday I try something different. Last time, that also happens to be the first time I used a musical. In that post I was challenged by the lovely Miss Hoather to do a Friday using an Opera. And bot that is hard and still a work in progress. In the mean time I came up with this idea, using lyrics from songs that have a name as a title. Hope you enjoy the result and see some of my favourite songs with a name as title. With a fun song at the end.
What’s in a name?
Notice how her image saddens
How lonely she’s become
Just once I’d like to see her happy
Before the winter comes
Girl from the north
You burned my heart
With a flickering torch
I hear there’s a party at Lake Cove
It’d be so much easier if I drove
We could check it out, we can go and see
Come on, take a ride with me
See the dance that needs no alibi
Oh you don’t need to dream
When you know you can fly
Well sometimes I go out, by myself, and I look across the water.
And I think of all the things, of what you’re doing, and in my head I paint a picture.
Do you remember barefoot on the lawn with shooting stars
Do you remember loving on the floor in Belsize Park
Do you remember dancing in stilettoes in the snow
Do you remember you never understood I had to go
Now I find it hard to believe, that I’m happy.
All my pains and heartaches are all gone.
So glad I can tell the world:
Let’s make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don’t say we’ll never find a way
And tell me all my love’s in vain.
Even if you turn and walk away
Love will bring you back somehow
I will wait forever and a day
‘Cause I believe without a doubt
The time will not run out on our love
Do you ever dream of me
Do you ever see the letters that I write
When you look up through the wire
All I wanna tell you is now you’ll never ever have to compromise
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad
Ev’rywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain’t a woman that comes close to you
Come on Baby, dry your eyes.
Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes I see a memory
I never realized how happy you made me
I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me
Though you’d have to have a heart of stone
to put me on my knees
I know you ain’t got it
I’m gonna get to you
no matter what you do
And I’ll admit that I am scared of what I don’t understand.
But darling, if you’re there, gentle voice and soothing hands,
to quiet my despair, to shore up all my plans, darling, if you’re there…
I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
I loved you since I knew you
I wouldn’t talk down to you
I have you to tell just how I feel
I won’t share you with another boy
I never thought a guy could cry
‘Til you made it with another guy
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow.
I think you’ve got to slow down, before you start to blow it.
I think you’re headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it
You looked so sweet
I should have seen
While I was playing for fun
You were playing for keeps
Doomed from the start, we can’t stay apart
Everywhere I turn I’m trapped in your heart
There’s no escape, secrets keep you awake
No running away, no saving the day
Don’t you know that I wanna
Hug and kiss you
Let you know that I miss you
While we’re apart
Hope you enjoyed this creation from randomly picked lyrics.
Visit Miss Hoather at her blog, and give her a listen. She is a soprano still climbing the ladder of greatness.
I took your challenge on Miss Charlotte, it is a work in progress.
And here is the playlist of songs with a name as title.
