Welcome to my Thursday story hitting the 20th chapter. ‘The Cursed Diary” is however coming closer to an end. Which I find a shame as I love writing it. Not going to keep you in my longing for it any longer. We know William, our hero came back to Paris, where he will have to stand up against Monarch.
The cursed Diary, chapter 20.

Handsome Cat by Alice X. Zhang
William is rushed into his clothing and watches the bridge and all those cats surrounding. McSniff is not in sight but that is not of the matter now as Monarch is downstairs. Still ordering cats around so he must be here with some of his followers.
“check every room and bring who ever you find here, now move, we do not have much time” Monarch is just as cruel as ever.
How many of them would there be? William points his ears in the directions of the door. While looking over the water and fields. Not much is happening but his eyes can see a lot further and find cats beaten and laying on the ground. A plume of black smoke still rising from the edge of the trees.
A door opens. The room next door is being searched. By one, no two cats. With the last buttons fastened William makes a move out on the balcony after putting a chair quietly against the door. On the balcony he waits on the ledge of the stone railing. His ears focussed to the moment he hears the chair being moved by the opening door. Swallowing his fears, ready to jump across to the next door balcony. ‘I am a cat, I can do this…, I got this, …what am I thinking.’
William’s thoughts are all over the place, as he wiggles his tail readying himself for a leap of faith in his first attempt being a fully transformed cat. The lock is twisted and William takes off with all his might. Landing on the far end of the other balcony. A shout is heard from the other room.
“Gopher, get in here, NOW” the two are even louder than before. You could hear the springs of the bed snap and the mirror break as they toss every thing up side down. William just waits silently on the balcony listening as the door of the rooms remained locked. Trapped on a balcony he cannot leave he hopes he can return the same way he came. Behind him the air ship hanging stationary in the air. Down from the gondola he can clearly see a rope and anchor this time, buried into the ground.
“check the balcony Phil, somebody must have been in here if the chair was in front of the door” William is shocked by the sound of that, it means they can see him through the post of the rail or smell him soon as they take a step on it. A quick decision is needed to be able to still free Richard and his beloved wife. With a deep breath William leaps over the railing, unfolding his claws as he bumps into the balloon. His nails bury themselves in the canvas. His sigh loud but not heard by the cat on the balcony as the wind blew a strong wind along side the house. What luck. Holding his breath he waits with his heart beat pumping over time in his chest.
William hangs by a tread and slides down as gravity pulls him down the balloon leaving small tares. With only inches free to hold on to our hero folds in his nails and lands on his feet in front of the porch. In the corner he could see the door being open but surely to dangerous to enter with Monarch being there and some of his henchman. Where are the troops when you can use their help. If only the bridge would have been ready and across the water. A sound at the door is heard and William again has found him in a predicament. A quick look shows only the open gondola of the air ship.
No time to think William is being forced into yet another corner. How many of them are there. Only time to act right now and as the door opens even further, our hero is hiding inside the balloon holding his breath. The door closes. Not a sound. Only a small breeze that whistles through a small opening. Buttons, levers and dials are filling the view of William who sighs with a relieve and relax his back against the walls. A moment to breath. Those were some tense moments. His heart rate up high he slowly brings it all together. The copperplate that says radio catches his eyes and looks at the dial with lots of numbers. Trucks use radio in his world. Our hero thinks he knows how to contact the other side and dials in. Whispering softly if any one can hear him. “can anybody hear me?” he keeps trying different numbers till one moment he hears a voice. “any body there?”
-“Steamer for all you hauling, meow”
“Billy… Steamer?”
-“wait… is this William? meow”
“yes ssst, it is me. Where are you? Where is everybody”
-“Putting out a fire of a truck they blew up, meow”
“where is McSniff, what truck, Monarch is here, need help. And what is with the meow”
-“He been apprehending some bums who blew up this truck, wait did you say… Monarch, meow”
“Just hurry okay I am hiding in the balloon, so need to get moving.”
-“why do you not say meow? And will do, meow meow”
“sure meow”
William looks confused, still not a word wiser on what is going on and why the bridge is not finished. This cannot be happening. How did they know Monarch would be back. Frustrated he bangs his head against the soft back rest of the seat. “Damn that Monarch”
Our hero takes his time to come up with a plan of action. He was able to get in touch with the other side of the water. Now hope there will be cats not afraid to cross it. Screams from the kitchen and other end of the house are heard. Seems they found Cooky and Kitty. That is at least four cats Monarch makes five. And he needs two or even three more to hold Cynthia and Richard.
With his head in his paws he worries if h is cut out to be the hero and safe them all. Wishing McSniff would be here to help him. “That damn water…” a light bulb ignites in Williams brain. And an idea to maybe not having to fight with the use of water. A grin forms as his whiskers vibrate with a blink of his eyes.
